Boris de Vries, also known as Father Futureback (1982) lives and works in The Hague , Holland. He gained a degree in Graphic Design from the Royal Academy Of Arts in 2010. Growing up with punk, metal and skateboarding these elements have made it’s way into his work. 'Pappa' describes his style as naive and kRaAaZeEeEe.
“When I work on something I want the people to see that I had fun doing it, I want to give it a certain handmade feel, it doesn’t matter if the end product isn’t completely slick and smooth, as long as it feels real...”
When asked about his motivations for contributing to the TILBURG INK project, ' Father' responded:
“When being a kid I already knew I would end up tattooed, just seeing a guy on the beach with a faded cat with a dagger or something like that, that was real. Just thinking that the guy had once decided that it would be a good idea to get that drawing under his skin on his lower arm, killer. Pot leaves, old skool russian criminal tats, bottles, snakes, tears for locked away bromies all that stuff gets me psyched! Random tattoos as a kind of memory just attract me way more that when someone gets a well thought out slick sleeve with some kind of foreign animal with flowers and tells everybody how it represents their personality. Seeing my drawings under skin is the best thing ever. A tattooist following your lines and colours, soo sick! No gradients, no perfect shading, just real killer drawings.”
Apart from working everyday on his drawings, collages, and tattoos, Father Futureback is the lead singer of the Dutch noise band 'Adolf Butler'. For his solo noise projects, he uses the monikers: safe swim, sex court, women bloopers, young barm, iron broom, LAW and many more.
